Writing a WordPress Blog Post will appear intimidating at first, but once you get used to writing a blog, you’ll find it’s quite simple.   3. Add Images and Media: To insert images, click on the “+” button, select “Image,” and upload your file or choose one from the media library. Selecting the appropriate block can also add videos, audio, and other media.
  4. Embed Videos: Use the embed code from video-sharing platforms like YouTube or Vimeo to embed videos in your posts.

Use Blocks Effectively

Gutenberg’s block editor offers various blocks to enhance your content. For example:

  • Paragraph Block: For regular text.
  • Image Block: To add images.
  • Quote Block: For highlighting quotes.
  • List Block: For bullet or numbered lists.

Write a Meta Description

Optimize Your Images

Confirm your images have detailed filenames and alt text. Alt text assists search engines in understanding what your images are about. To add alt text:

  3. Enter your alt text in the “Alt Text” field.

Set a Featured Image

A featured image is the main image that presents your post. It displays on your post homepage and social media sources to place a featured image:

  1. Scroll down to the “Featured Image” section on the right-hand side.
  2. Click “Set Featured Image,” then upload or select an image from your media library.

Step 5: Add Categories and Tags

Categories and tags help organize your content and make it easier for readers to find related posts.

Add Categories

Categories are broader topics that group your posts. To add a category:

  1. In the right-hand sidebar, find the “Categories” section.
  2. Check the box next to an existing category or click “+ Add New Category” to create a new one.

Add Tags

Tags are particular keywords related to your blog post. To add tags:

  1. Find the “Tags” section in the right-hand sidebar.
  2. Enter your tags in the field provided, separated by commas.

Step 6: Preview Your Post

Before publishing, it’s a good idea to preview your post to see how it will look to readers.

  1. Click the “Preview” button at the top right of the editor.
  2. Review your post and make any necessary changes.

Step 7: Publish Your Post

If you are happy with your blog post, it is now time to publish it.

  1. Click the Publish button at the top right corner of the editor.
  2. You’ll be encouraged to confirm. Click “Publish” again to create your post live.
